June 19 2021 The Garden City Wind defeated the Trinidad Triggers 14-8, using a six-run sixth inning to pull away in a high-scoring game. Garden City finished with 15 hits and no errors, while Trinidad collected 12 hits and committed three errors.
Austin Labarber led the Wind offensively with two home runs and six RBI, while B. Pugh and McCain Mason also homered. Manuel Blanco and Brendan Hostettler each drove in two runs, and Garden City opened the game with four runs in the first inning before adding three in the second to take an early 7-0 lead.
Trinidad began to rally with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, cutting the deficit to 7-4. Garden City answered with six runs in the sixth, however, and added another run in the eighth. The Triggers scored three times in the seventh, but could not overcome the Wind’s lead.
AJ Clayton earned the win after allowing five runs on nine hits over six innings while striking out eight and walking one. Devin Malone followed with 1.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts, and Razedrick Winters recorded three strikeouts in a scoreless ninth. Ozzie Millet took the loss for Trinidad after giving up seven runs on nine hits in four innings.
