June 24 2021 Garden City Wind scored 20 unanswered runs after Salina Stockade took a first-inning lead and defeated Salina 21-1. Garden City broke through with five runs in the second inning, added seven in the third and maintained control with two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, four in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Calvin Butler led Garden City’s offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with four runs, seven RBI, three walks and two home runs. B. Pugh went 3-for-5 with two runs and five RBI, while Devon Zielke added two hits, three runs, three RBI and a home run. Manuel Blanco scored twice and drove in one run, and McCain Mason contributed one hit, two runs and two RBI.
AJ Clayton earned the victory for Garden City with 7.2 innings of one-run baseball. He allowed eight hits, walked none and struck out seven. Clayton also scored three runs and drove in one run as a hitter. Justin Shepherd took the loss for Salina after allowing 14 runs, 14 earned, on five hits and nine walks in 3.1 innings.
Salina’s lone run came in the first inning on a home run by Canice Ejoh, who finished 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Thomas Fitzpatrick and Drake Ayala each had two hits for the Stockade, while Garden City finished with 12 hits and no errors.
