July 1 2021 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Garden City Wind 20-5 behind an 18-hit offensive performance. Tucson built an early lead with three runs in the first inning, then added one in the second, two in the third and six in the fourth to take a 12-1 advantage. The Saguaros later scored four runs in the seventh and three in the ninth.
Danny Kerr led Tucson with five hits and six RBIs in seven at-bats. Leo Gallegos added two hits, four RBIs and two home runs, while David Walker hit a home run and finished with two hits, four runs and two RBIs. Gabe Wurtz had two hits and two RBIs, and Christian Naccari contributed two hits and two RBIs. Tucson hit four home runs overall, with BJ Minarcin also going deep.
Tyler Rumbaugh earned the win for Tucson after allowing three runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings while striking out 10 and walking one. Garden City scored twice in the seventh and once in the ninth, but could not overcome the early deficit. The Wind collected 11 hits, led by Cartaya Jr.s three hits, three RBIs and home run, while Taylor Barber added two hits, two RBIs and a home run. Ismael De Los Santos took the loss after allowing 10 runs on seven hits in three innings.
