July 27 2021 The Trinidad Triggers held off the Garden City Wind 15-14 in a high-scoring contest at Clint Lightner. Trinidad collected 19 hits and overcame two late Garden City runs in the eighth inning before scoring twice in the ninth. The Wind answered with one run in the bottom of the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
Zach May led Trinidad with three hits, five RBI and a home run. Robbie Kellerman added three hits and three RBI, while Chris Jordan scored five runs and finished with three hits and two walks. Ozzie Millet and Vaughn Parker also had three hits each for the Triggers, who scored four times in the first inning, three times in the second and three more in the fifth.
Garden City received three-hit games from Preston Rackley and Manuel Blanco, while Cartaya Jr. drove in three runs and McCain Mason added three RBI. The Wind scored four times in the fifth to pull within one run at 12-11 and tied the game at 13-13 with two runs in the eighth. Trinidad pitcher Duff Steve earned the win after allowing one run on one hit with three walks and two strikeouts over 1.1 innings. Devin Malone took the loss for Garden City after giving up two runs, one earned, on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts in one inning.
