August 6 2021 The Garden City Wind rallied for three runs in the eighth inning and held on for a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Springs Snow Sox. Garden City finished with nine hits while Colorado Springs collected eight.
Garden City opened the scoring with a run in the first inning, but Colorado Springs moved ahead with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh. The Wind answered in the eighth, with Cartaya Jr. hitting a two-run home run and Manuel Blanco adding an RBI. Cartaya Jr. finished 1-for-1 with two RBI and a run scored, while Preston Rackley and Alex Nielsen each collected two hits. McCain Mason also had two hits, and Rackley recorded a triple.
Alex Jackson and Adam Purdy each drove in a run for Colorado Springs, while John Anthon had an RBI and Nick Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double. Jackson and Purdy each scored once, and Colorado Springs was charged with two errors.
Tanner Stilts worked five scoreless innings for Garden City, allowing three hits and striking out two. Noah Parsons earned the win after pitching a scoreless inning with two strikeouts, and Devin Malone recorded the save with 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Issac Olson took the loss for Colorado Springs despite striking out seven over 7 2/3 innings; he allowed eight hits and four earned runs.
