June 7 2025 The Garden City Wind defeated the Kansas City Hormigas 24-9 after scoring in eight innings and collecting 21 hits. Garden City set the tone with nine runs in the first inning, added six in the fifth and three in the seventh to pull away. Kansas City finished with 13 hits and scored three times in the first, twice in the fourth, once in the sixth, twice in the seventh and once in the ninth.
Kaleb Scull powered the Wind offense by going 2-for-3 with two runs and six RBI. The box score also credits Scull with three home runs. Drew Woodley went 4-for-7 with two runs and four RBI, while Andrew Brautman went 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBI. Jacob Talamante added three hits and four runs, and Garden City received two hits and three RBI from winning pitcher Cutter Smith.
Miguel Tejada led Kansas City with a 3-for-4 performance, two runs and a walk. Julio Zamora went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Amari Kemp added two hits and an RBI. Devin Radar and Alejandro Herrera also drove in runs for the Hormigas.
Smith earned the win after allowing 11 hits and six runs over six innings, with three strikeouts and one walk. Adam Burbnick took the loss for Kansas City after surrendering nine earned runs on five hits in 1.1 innings. Garden City relievers D. Benton, Lance Koch and Nico ODonnell combined to finish the game, with Koch throwing a scoreless inning and striking out two.
