July 6 2025 The Garden City Wind defeated the Alpine Cowboys 9-2 after breaking open a close game with a six-run fifth inning. Garden City finished with 10 hits and no errors, while Alpine collected eight hits and committed two errors.
Garden City took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and added another run in the third before Alpine answered with one run in the fourth. The Wind’s fifth-inning surge put the game out of reach, with six runs turning a 3-1 advantage into a 9-1 lead. Alpine added its second run in the fifth.
Andrew Brautman led Garden City with three hits, including a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Kaleb Scull had a double, two walks, one RBI and one run, while Pierce Khan contributed a double, an RBI, two walks and a run. Jacob Talamante drove in two runs, and Rob Morosetti had two hits and scored once.
Cole Lee earned the win for Garden City after allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings, with two walks and four strikeouts. Ritter Steinmann, Grant Garza and Lance Koch each pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Alpine starter Dieterich Guertzgen took the loss after surrendering seven runs, five earned, on seven hits in 4.1 innings, while Jesse Garcia allowed two runs in 3.2 innings.
