July 28 2025 The Garden City Wind defeated the Kansas City Hormigas 13-2 after building an early lead and collecting 14 hits. Garden City scored three runs in the first inning and four in the second to move ahead 7-0, then added single runs in the third and three-run fourth before scoring twice in the fifth. Kansas City scored once in the third and fourth innings but could not close the gap.
Jacob Talamante led the Wind offense with two hits, two runs and four RBI, including his sixth home run of the season. Tobie Teke went 2-for-2 with four runs, three walks, one RBI and a stolen base, while Jacob Talamante and Jason Rooks each scored twice. Dominic Enbody added three hits and two RBI, and Rob Morosetti contributed three hits and an RBI.
Zach Westbrook earned the win for Garden City, allowing three hits and two runs, one earned, in six innings. He walked one and struck out six. Max Ramirez, Gavin Peterson and Tyler Bare combined to finish the game with three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven.
Kansas City managed five hits, with Xander Nabors, Devin Radar, Antuan Franco and Jacob Strobel recording one apiece along with one additional hit from the Hormigas lineup. Strobel took the loss after allowing 10 hits and 11 runs, nine earned, in four innings while walking eight and striking out three.
