July 29 2025 The Garden City Wind defeated the Kansas City Hormigas 4-3 at Satchel Paige, overcoming a late tie with a run in the bottom of the ninth. The teams exchanged single runs in the third and two-run innings in the fifth before Garden City broke the 3-3 deadlock in the ninth.
Jason Rooks led Garden City’s offense with a home run, two runs and one RBI. Dominic Enbody went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and two walks, while Adam Purdy and Rob Morosetti each added an RBI. Pierce Khan had two hits for the Wind, who finished with six hits and one error.
Kansas City also collected six hits. Zachary Trangmar drove in two runs, and Amari Kemp went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. The Hormigas scored in the third and fifth innings but were held scoreless over the final four frames.
Grant Garza earned the win after striking out four and allowing two hits in two scoreless innings. Garden City used five pitchers, with Jeremiah Williams starting three innings and Jose Ballista, Max Ramirez and Garza combining to limit Kansas City to one hit over the final four innings. TC Burns took the loss for Kansas City despite working eight innings; he allowed six hits and four runs, two earned, with six walks and three strikeouts.
