June 25 2019 The Garden City Wind defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 11-0 behind a 17-hit attack and a dominant pitching performance. Garden City scored twice in the first inning, added three runs in the second, four in the fifth and two in the eighth. Santa Fe was held scoreless while collecting four hits and committing one error.
Carson Lee led the Wind with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, scoring twice and driving in a run. Cutter McDowell went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, while Shane Brown and Nick Snyder each had two hits and an RBI. Jordan Pontious and Brandon Kussmaul each drove in two runs, and the Wind also received two hits from Peter Pena.
Rich Edwards earned the win for Garden City after allowing four hits and no runs over six innings. He walked none and struck out one. Kyle Koppenhoefer, Kyle Porter and Joel Garza each followed with a scoreless inning, combining to keep Santa Fe off the scoreboard over the final three frames.
Alex Merithew took the loss for Santa Fe after allowing nine runs, seven earned, on 14 hits in five innings. Logan Linder pitched two scoreless innings of relief, while Kyle Kuttruf worked the eighth inning.
