July 13 2019 The Garden City Wind defeated the White Sands Pupfish 13-1 behind a strong all-around performance at Clint Lightner. Garden City scored three runs in the first inning and three more in the fourth to build an early 6-0 advantage before adding one run in the seventh and six in the eighth. White Sands scored its only run in the eighth inning.
Shane Brown led Garden City with two hits and three RBI, while Jordan Pontious added two hits and two RBI. Brandon Kussmaul also collected two hits, scored twice and drove in one run. Cutter McDowell, Joel Garza and Zack Kammerman each contributed an RBI, with Kammerman adding a hit and a run.
Kammerman earned the win after allowing eight hits but no runs in six innings, striking out six and walking one. Kyle Porter and Pierce Smith each worked a scoreless inning in relief, while Travis Edgar allowed one run in the seventh. Brian Garcia took the loss for White Sands after allowing three runs on three hits in four innings. Garden City finished with 11 hits and no errors, while White Sands had eight hits and committed two errors.
