July 15 2019 The Garden City Wind defeated the Alpine Cowboys 4-3 in 10 innings at Kokernot Field. Garden City collected eight hits and committed no errors, while Alpine finished with 14 hits and two errors.
Both teams were scoreless through six innings before Garden City scored three runs in the seventh. Alpine answered with one run in the bottom half and added two more in the eighth to take a 3-3 tie into the 10th. The Wind scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th and held Alpine scoreless in the bottom half.
Cutter McDowell led Garden City with two hits, including a triple, and one RBI. Ryan Kemp added two hits and a double, while Shane Brown went 1-for-1 as a pinch-hitter with two RBIs. Alpine first baseman Lance Myers collected four hits and scored once, and Matt Traylor had three hits and one RBI. Sam Little added two hits, including a double.
Garden City starter Jackson Owens worked six scoreless innings, allowing seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Travis Edgar earned the win with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts, and Austin Willis-Greene recorded the save with a scoreless 10th. Alpine starter Ryan Hill allowed three runs over 6.2 innings while striking out seven, and Alejandro Amezquita took the loss after allowing one run over 1.2 innings.
