If you love baseball and enjoy meeting new people, becoming a Host Family for a professional baseball player is a unique and rewarding opportunity!
The Garden City Wind Professional Baseball Team is currently seeking Host Families for the upcoming 2026 season. Each summer, talented young athletes travel from across the United States and beyond to pursue their dreams of playing professional baseball with the Garden City Wind. These players come from different backgrounds and experiences, but they all share one goal: advancing their baseball careers while becoming part of our community.
Host Families are an essential part of the success of our team. By opening your home to a player, you provide much more than a place to stay. You offer a welcoming, comfortable environment and a sense of family while these young men are away from their own homes. Your generosity allows players to focus on baseball while enjoying the support and stability of a local family.
Over the years, our Host Family Program has created countless friendships and lasting relationships between players and the families who welcomed them. Many Host Families remain in contact with their players long after the season ends, following their baseball careers and celebrating their accomplishments. Hosting a player also provides a unique behind-the-scenes look at the dedication, challenges, and excitement of life as a professional baseball player.
The baseball season typically begins in May and continues through early to mid-August, depending on the team's postseason schedule. During this time, your player will become part of your household and have the opportunity to experience the hospitality and community spirit that make our baseball organization special.
As a thank-you for your generosity and commitment, the WIND are pleased to offer a special Host Family Appreciation Package exclusively for the families who participate in this important program. We recognize that our Host Families play a vital role in making professional baseball possible in our community, and we want to show our appreciation for everything you do.
Become part of the Garden City Wind family this season! Open your home, support a player's professional baseball journey, and create memories and friendships that can last a lifetime.
As a Host Family, here is what we ask of you:
- Provide a player with their own room for the season.
- Provide access to a washer and dryer if possible.
- Provide access to a bathroom
- Provide access to a kitchen
- Provide a safe and comfortable environment.
- Cheer for him at the games whenever possible.
You can expect your player to be a conscientious young man who will be a positive role model in your home and the community.
He is expected to follow the rules in your house, contribute to your family's routines, and share his gratitude for you generosity.
It is not unusual for a player to become a mentor to your young ball player sharing skills and building a friendship that could last a lifetime.
